Ingredients
  

  • 2 lbs round steak, cut into pieces
  • 1 tbsp olive oil optional, for browning
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 14 oz can diced tomatoes with juice
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour optional, for thickening
  • 1 cup chopped mushrooms optional
  • 2 medium carrots, peeled and sliced (optional)
  • 2 stalks celery chopped (optional)
  • 1 tsp dried oregano or Italian seasoning

Instructions
 

  • Season and Sear: Season steak with salt, pepper, and paprika. Sear in a skillet with olive oil for 2-3 minutes per side (optional).
  • Sauté Veggies: In the same skillet, sauté onions, garlic, and celery until soft.
  • Layer in Crockpot: Add steak, sautéed vegetables, diced tomatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire, and soy sauce to the Crockpot.
  • Add Seasonings: Sprinkle thyme, oregano, and black pepper. Add optional mushrooms and carrots on top.
  • Cook: Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours, until steak is tender.
  • Thicken Sauce (Optional): Mix 1/4 cup flour with 1 cup cooking liquid. Stir back into Crockpot and cook 15-20 minutes.
  • Serve: Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles. Garnish with parsley.
